Certified Irrigation Contractor (CIC) Training & Testing Offered By IICC & IPLLA

The Indiana Professional Lawn & Landscape Association (IPLLA), and the Indiana Irrigation Contractors Association (IICC) is pleased to partner with the national Irrigation Association (IA), in offering a training and testing opportunity in 2016.  Here are the details.

Training Dates :    March 1 & 2, 2016 from 8:00am to 5:00pm each day.

Testing Date:  Offered separately thru the Irrigation Association on March 3, 2016. YOU MUST REGISTER AT LEAST 14 DAYS BEFORE TEST.

Location:  Both training and testing will be held at:

Carmel Water Operations Center
3450 West 131st Street
Carmel, IN  46074

Class Size: Both training and testing opportunities will be limited to the first 25 people

Fees:  CIC Training on March 1 and 2:          

IPLLA/IICC Members    $425.00
Non-Members             $575.00

Note:  Registration includes training manual and lunch on both days. For groups of three or more call IPLLA at 317.575.9010 for pricing.

The Certified Irrigation Contractor program is an opportunity to gain a nationally recognized credential for irrigation contractors.  The training process and test offers the following:

  Implementing Pre-Install Considerations
  Understanding Plans and Specifications
  Identifying Mobilization Needs
  Performing Lay Out
  Installing point of connection
  Performing trenching and pipe pulling
  Installation of pipe and fitting
  Installation of Wiring
  Installation of various sprinkler heads and assemblies
  Installation of various drip components
  Installation of valves
  Installation of controllers and related components

Irrigation Scheduling and Water Management
  Understanding the soil-plant-water relationship
  Conducting Irrigation Assessment/Audit
  Analysis site conditions for water conservation potential
  Calculating a Watering Schedule

Maintenance and Repair
  Performing maintenance
  Routine repairs
  Education of customers on best management practices

Federal Laws and Codes
  Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
  US national Electric Code
  US National Standard Plumbing Code
  Us Labor Laws

General Business Management
  Understanding basic accounting practices
  Maintaining record keeping
  Understanding insurance information and policies
  Understanding the elements of a contract and/or proposal
  Performing bidding and estimating
  Performing job costing

NOTE:  The exam itself contains 150 multiple choice questions.  There is a 3.5 hour period allotted for testing and it will be proctored.  A calculator, number #2 pencils, and an engineer’s scale are required.
