IPLLA/IICC Spring 2023 Newsletter

A Message From Our IPLLA/IICC President

Spring has sprung and I know all of you are excited and out taking care of your clients. IPLLA and IICC have had a busy winter preparing for our 2023 educational events. We had a great turnout at our regional events in Danville, Merrillville, Fort Wayne and Sellersburg and cannot wait for this year’s Summer Field Day. We plan to have some really nice classroom events both inside and outside!

One of the many ways IPLLA/IICC is involved outside of our educational events is through our membership in IOMA. For those that don’t know IOMA, it is the Indiana Outdoor Management Alliance. IOMA represents our Members and other member associations in the industry on legislative affairs and advocating for groups like ours so that we can be well represented as an industry. Your membership dues largely help our ability to belong to a group like IOMA. By having a group like IOMA, we were able to help bring together the initiative for the RT Technician training classes put on by Dr. Fred Whitford and ultimately have a voice when it comes to Governmental Affairs. IOMA continues to have a great relationship with our partner, The Corydon Group, and rest assured that your business is at the top of their minds.

Coming up over the next few months, our Board of Directors will be looking for new nominees to serve a three-year term on the Board of Directors. This is a great way to stay involved in IPLLA/IICC, have a voice in the industry and work together with industry leaders to create a wonderful educational experience for our members. Just recently we have begun incorporating new paths for education:  this includes mosquito control, hardscape, and even a business track for business owners both new and old. As we continue to grow, we look for new ways to educate and appreciate your feedback on what you are looking for. We continually have great speakers from all around to help make our state industry one of the most educated in the country.

We are looking forward to a great year and can’t wait to see you at the Field Day!

Thank You,

Gregg Pulley
President, IPLLA/IICC

37th Annual Summer Field Day Set for August 24th!

The 37th Annual IPLLA/IICC Summer Field Day will be held at the Hendricks County Fairgrounds on Thursday August 24, 2023.   Registration will open in mid June but we are now accepting Exhibitor Reservations for the event.   This year we will return to the Air Conditioned Expo Hall for both our lunch and tabletop exhibits, while outdoor equipment exhibits will be surrounding the building.  A great event and we will look forward to seeing you there!

Dates Reset for 2023-24 Statewide Regional Workshops

Trade associations must set dates of their annual events almost a year out to be sure we have the right meeting location and speaker availability.  IPLLA/IICC is no exception and have set the dates for our regional training late this year and early next.  So mark your calendars today to attend the event in your area.

The Indiana Outdoor Management Alliance (IOMA) Continues Working for You!

Once again our industry is represented by a fine conglomerate of lawn and landscape associations who work year-round in promoting the best interests of our industry and our dealings with the Indiana State Legislature.  2023 is the long session of the House and Senate meaning that they have been in session since early January and adjourn on April 30th.  So our government affairs firm has been kept busy and we will have a full recap of their efforts once the session is over.

Irrigation Technician Training Class
Now open for Online Registration

On August 24th, we will once again offer a day long program on irrigation system maintenance.  The class, taught by industry expert Keith Schweiger, covers a multitude of things about managing in-ground systems including repairing field wiring, irrigation concepts, winterization of the system, proper tools, piping, and troubleshooting.

The class is very educational for anyone who deals with irrigation systems including contractors, lawn care operators, schools and parks grounds personnel, local parks, sports field managers, and many others.  It is a full day of training and includes a personal copy of the “Irrigation System Installation & Maintenance Manual”.  Lunch is also included in your registration.

We emphasize that the class is very limited in the number of students (30) and so registration is on a first come-first serve basis.  Cost is $275.00 and you can register online now at IPLLA.COM and then clicking Irrigation Technician Training.

Schools, parks departments, and other governmental agencies may register by sending a Purchase Order to:   IPLLA/IICC, P.O. Box 481, Carmel, IN  46082

So don’t delay!  Register today!
